Does CBD help with mental illness?


CBD or cannabidiol is one of the most prevalent ingredients found in the cannabis plant. This plant has been utilized for medicinal purposes in many different cultures for thousands of years. 

Contrary to THC, CBD by itself does not cause a “high” or addiction. There has been no scientific evidence proving that CBD could cause any sort of dependence or health-related problems in humans. 

In recent years, the therapeutic interest in cannabidiol (CBD) has been expanding due to numerous reports and evidence supporting the use of CBD for therapeutic purposes. Many studies have shown the potential of CBD in the treatment of depression, anxiety, PTSD, insomnia, among others.

As one of the most common mental health disorders in the world, it is of no surprise there’s a vast interest in looking for alternatives to help in the treatment of this condition. 

Many experts associate CBD’s benefits for the treatment of depression with its positive effect on serotonin receptors.

Anxiety has an important role in many mental health disorders like panic, phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), post-traumatic stress disorders (PTSD), among others.
